Hi,

There's a heap corruption bug in version 10.42 (not present in 10.40), which bisection suggests was introduced in d90fb23 - full details at https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1027952

This was initially picked up by Debian's CI (which resulted in some confusion because I couldn't reproduce the failure); but Simon McVittie has helpfully reproduced it, and done a bisection.

[if it would be helpful, I can C&P backtraces and so on from the Debian bug, but it seems to make more sense to just link to it from here]

I don't know if this is the same issue as #196 but it seems plausible; in which case the bisection work here might be useful.

Looks like the Debian bug report has exonerated PCRE2.

I think so, yes; in any case, I think we can close this (and I'll keep an eye on #196)
