Graphics is currently written in OpenGL for convenience working with wxWidgets. vtk is preferable if we can get it to run smoothly in the UI.

GUI is still a "bonus" feature so this really is more of a wishlist priority. Still, if we are going to migrate, it would probably be efficient to do it sooner rather than later.
