There's a setting in the Docker hub called Repository Links:

Link your Automated Build to another Docker Hub repository, and when that repository is updated, it will automatically trigger a rebuild of this Automated Build.

Do we want a new image built every time the ubuntu repo is updated to keep the image always up to date in the Docker hub?

As long as we specify the exact distribution (xenial ATM). ;)

I think this should be implemented, resent changes in the Dockerfile (2 month old) are not in the Hub (4 month old).

If the image gets rebuilt once in a while, we should test it before marking it as the current image. In any case, it would be better than what we are doing now (running dist-upgrade.)
