This problem happens after updating using HACS because the file 'recorder.yaml' is removed by the update.

This change was made because HACS was over-writing 'recorder.yaml' and this can change the history database being used.

Edit 'configuration.yaml': find the line starting recorder: where the file is referenced and change the file that is used to

'recorder_ha.yaml' to use the built in HA database
'recorder_maria.yaml' to use Maria DB.

Instructions for setting up Maria DB (if required) can be found towards the end of the configuration section here
