Originally opened as adobe/brackets#3283

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open Brackets with the sidebar hidden
  2. Work on some files
  3. Try to make a new one (Cmd+N)

Expected result:
An unsaved buffer is created and opened. Save (Cmd+S) opens the system Save… dialog to persist it to disk with a name and location of my choosing.

Actual result:
A file called Untitled.js is created at the root of my project. Saving the buffer modifies this file. There's no way for me to name it.

I was turned on to working with the sidebar closed by a Brackets core member. This is a designed-for use case, but creating a new file with the sidebar closed is really wonky.

Yup, we've needed this for awhile :) This is on the backlog as https://trello.com/c/wxmFpxW3 (Save As) and https://trello.com/c/WUdhIRlh (File > New creating an untitled file) -- these are currently sitting as #7 and #8 on the backlog, so we should be getting to them within the next couple of sprints.

Closing as move to backlog.
