Description

I get the following messages in my journal logs.

[89919:89919:0612/155413.705789:ERROR:CONSOLE(1)] "[Shields]: Can't request shields panel data. Error: No tab url specified", source: chrome-extension://mnojpmjdmbbfmejpflffifhffcmidifd/out/brave_extension_background.bundle.js (1)
[89919:89919:0612/155413.762762:ERROR:CONSOLE(0)] "Unchecked runtime.lastError: Cannot access contents of url "chrome://newtab/". Extension manifest must request permission to access this host.", source: chrome-extension://mnojpmjdmbbfmejpflffifhffcmidifd/_generated_background_page.html (0)
[89919:89919:0612/154948.940475:ERROR:CONSOLE(1)] "[Shields]: Can't request shields panel data. Error: No tab url specified", source: chrome-extension://mnojpmjdmbbfmejpflffifhffcmidifd/out/brave_extension_background.bundle.js (1)

The above messages flood my journal logs and also when I open my Jupyter-notebook in a terminal. It gets really vexing when the Jupyter messages get buried in the logs from Brave browser.

Steps to Reproduce

I installed the browser using the instructions on the site. My OS is Ubuntu 20.04 Focal Fossa and is completely up to date.

Actual result:

Expected result:

The browser won't create unnecessary messages and disturb my workflow.

Reproduces how often:

very frequently, once every few minutes at least.

Other Additional Information:

  • Is the issue reproducible on the latest version of Chrome?
No, I do not get any journal messages using Chrome.

If these messages are harmful, is it possible to hide them and stop them from entering the system logs?
