          Maven 3.8.1 came out nearly two years ago so hopefully the CI runner is running at least that version by now. It should be set up in the runner by this action:

https://github.com/actions/setup-java

though I don't see any immediate documentation there about which Maven version it installs.

On that note however I do notice/realize that we are still using the adopt JDK distribution, which should be changed to temurin.
