The map didn't make it with the rest of the user breakdown in #69712, so this issue is here for adding it.
Brief: https://github.com/elastic/uptime-dev/issues/4

There is a geo map showing a region-level overlay

  • Page Load Speed drives the colour

@katrin-freihofner I don't know if this warrants a full on design issue, can you just give us a quick idea of where you'd like the map to go? Glad to create one if you think it's warranted.

Also, we have a map like this in APM.

@shahzad31 Regarding the colours:

  • Colour scale should be relative to the data displayed
  • Colour is displayed at the country level until zoomed in to a country with regions, then we break it down by regions. Do not go to city level.
  • There should be a four colour scale: Fastest 25% of countries/regions, upper middle 25%, lower middle 25% and slowest 25% - my preference is to use euiPaletteComplimentary(4) with the fastest countries being the blue through to the slowest being orange. https://elastic.github.io/eui/#/utilities/color-palettes @formgeist can you verify you're happy with this implementation detail?
  • Any region with less than 5% of total traffic for the period should not be coloured (ie to reduce noise from non-meaningful markets)

FYI - I've removed the AC about opacity being driven by traffic density for now. We'll let the filtering get rid of the noise for us.

IMO euiPaletteForTemperature will be better. It will look be a little more like a heatmap and it's consistent with the core vitals visualization, which is using euiPaletteForStatus but the orange is consistent. Thoughts?

I'm ok with Temperature. Just wanted to keep away from red/yellow/greens. @formgeist
