Steps to reproduce

  1. Click on + next to the people list
  2. Enter an MXID with a Homeserver, that does not exist, e.g. @test:asdfoij2323783289.org
  3. Go
  4. You will be in the pre DM screen
  5. Send the first message

Outcome

What did you expect?

Some kind of error handling.

What happened instead?

Stuck local room with „some of your message have not been sent“.

@daniellekirkwood @langleyd I would like to fix this issue but would need close pairing with an engineer. FYI this is too large for a maintainer task.
