Timeline search inoperable in video rooms

Steps to reproduce

1. Starting conditions: n a video room with encryption enabled and which has chat history. Chat is open.
2. I click the (i) (which, confusingly, closes chat rather than switching to the room info view), then click it again (to access the info view).
3. I type my search into the search box.
4. I hit enter.
5. Nothing happens.
6. I use the JS console to submit the form, causing Element to reload with a URL that will perform the search.
7. On loading, there is no search results UI at all, only the call UI.

As far as I can tell, any room where the main view is a video call rather than a timeline is not capable of search.
Furthermore, as the room is encrypted, attempts to use "search all rooms" to work around this produced no results from the room.

Outcome

What did you expect?

To be able to search the text chat history.

What happened instead?

The search never even gave any indication it was being submitted, and even forcing the issue resulted in no sign of a search occurring.
