Why #params of twist=6? #13

Hello all,
I am new in point cloud registration and want to ask a silly question. Why the number of twist parameter is 6? If it is the reason that rigid transformation is in 6 dimensions of freedom(X, Y, Z, Roll, Yaw, Pitch).
