The IETF LLC provides the corporate legal home for the IETF, the Internet Architecture Board (IAB), and the Internet Research Task Force (IRTF). The IETF LLC’s sole member is the Internet Society, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and accordingly the IETF LLC is treated as a “disregarded entity” for non-profit tax law purposes. Its corporate structure means that it is subject to certain of the rules applicable to 501(c)(3) non-profit corporations.
