Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
Foliate is a great tool for reading documents. I combine epub and PDF documents. Whereas epub files can be displayed in 2-colums or 1 column (scrolled mode), there is a tricky behavior with PDF documents: They deem to be displayed always with 2 pages next to each other. As a consequence the text size on a laptop screen in most cases is too small to read it.
Although there is a way to increase text size of PDF documents, it would be great to have pages displayed out of the box in a more readable manner.

Describe the solution you'd like
A first step could be to display pad documents always with a single page on maximum page wide.

Describe alternatives you've considered
The Gnome PDF viewer Evince proposes single page width mode out of the box but allows as well a double page mode in its settings.
