Joomla 4.3.4 with PHP 8.1 - PHP deprecated on com_search component

Updating from PHP 8.0.30 to PHP 8.1

Expected result

no deprecations

Actual result

I have the same problem with Joomla 4.4 and PHP 8.2.11
I get the following error, simply by visiting my page:
Deprecated
: version_compare(): Passing null to parameter #2 ($version2) of type string is deprecated in
/home/customer/www/101.millviews.com/public_html/libraries/src/Updater/Updater.php

When I refresh the page, the error code disappears. I am not capable of fixing the error myself and hope for some help. Once I have refreshed the page or visit it for a second time, there is no more error.

Update: the PHP version is now 8.3
