Prevent player from starting play when next/prev is pressed

With the prev / next buttons, if the player is currently NOT playing then moving forward or back through the playlist causes it to start playing.

How can I preserve the existing play state ?

So if the player is currently playing when next/prev is pressed, then the next/prev track should also start playing,

HOWEVER,

If the player is not currently playing, then moving to next/prev should just select the respective file from the playlist, and await the user to manually click play to start playing.
