I'd probably want the purpose of the instance to be fleshed out before new members are added. It's unclear to me what the server is for, and we don't seem to have gone to great lengths to explain it

The moderation challenges become less challenging if the scope of the server is tightly defined.
imo, I'd rather have the server be a place for any ecosystem member to announce what their up to and keep about as on topic as we do in this room, but not have it become a "personal" server, as I think that invites too much chaos :)

Could use a word about who represents the matrix foundation and who doesn't. Maybe "@matrix@mastodon.matrix.org and @foundation@mastodon.matrix.org represent the official stance of the foundation. Other users represent themselves." or so

It needs to be on the mastodon instance because that's where everyone will look first.
But it could appear on the handbook, potentially linked.

Members on this instance are part of the wider Matrix ecosystem.
