We currently lack any tests targeting .NETCore 3.0. This makes it hard to check 3.0 only features. (microsoft/ApplicationInsights-dotnet-server#1289)

AspNetCore repo has this (https://github.com/microsoft/ApplicationInsights-aspnetcore/blob/develop/test/TestApp30/TestApp30.csproj). but every repo should have this.

This maybe easier to tackle after #1214 or along with it.
