Unable to get featured first in search on category pages

Hello! I'm testing 3 listings with this plugin, and marked one of them as featured. If I search for a keyword or choose a category option in the search bar, it puts the featured listings first. However, if I use a default category link that GeoDirectory creates that I placed on my directory search page, the featured listing doesn't show at the top. Is this normal behavior or am I missing something?
