Aims

We're also going to add support for automating OpenStack deployments. We'll look at supporting both OpenStack Rocky and OpenStack Stein; support for OpenStack Train will follow later.

Deliverables

  • A single management controller node running OpenStack controllers, with a separate node running MySQL and RabbitMQ for communications between controllers.
  • A minimum of 2 compute zones, each powered by a separate hypervisor node running Ubuntu 18.04 and KVM(for orchestrating OpenStack VMs).
  • Native support for Ceph - this means all OpenStack VM images, root/addon volumes and VM/volume snapshots are stored on separate Ceph pools.
  • Support for advanced virtual networking on OpenStack.
  • Documentation on using the playbooks, as well as notes on best practices that ought to be adopted while deploying an OpenStack cluster.
  • Playbooks & documentation for configuring Ceph integration.
