Create a post type 'book'.
Create a taxonomy 'genre'.
Create a term 'novels'.
Check the option Use custom permalink of custom taxonomy archive in Settings > Permalinks

You can access to mysite.com/book/genre/novels/ as expected.
But you can still access to mysite.com/genre/novels/ too.
Both pages display the same content.
