Reduce impact on Moodle functioning when having a Turnitin service disruption

We use Moodle plagiarism plugin (PP) integrated with Moodle quizzes, assignments and workshops and because of a Turnitin service disruption teachers and students were unable to access settings from those activities (Error 504 - Gateway Timeout). Only after we were able to understand that the issue was related to Turnitin and we deactivated the plagiarism plugin we could use the activities normally again. The impact of a turnitin issue is enormous because of plagiarism plugin (PP) integration with Moodle. I propose an improvement on PP integration (like adding a time-out) to mitigate this kind of issues and reduce impact on Moodle functioning when having a Turnitin service disruption.
