Hello and thanks for the wonderful AFWall+!

I'm on CM10 (Android 4.1.1), I don't have a Google Account/Play Store (so no Sync, Backup or anything), Background Data is disabled and only a very few Apps are allowed with AFW+ (Tint, FDroid etc.).

Still Data Usage shows 9mb Background data for „Android System“ for the last month. I ran Network Log and it says that lots of processes use data (pretty minimal eg. 1.9K per 5 minutes or so) which shouldn't be able to: Android System, Defy Settings, FMRadio Service, HWA Settings, Input Devices, Theme Chooser, Kernel etc. none of which are allowed in AWF+

Any idea why this might be happening / what I could do?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Version 1.2.x has this problem. Please try the latest beta from xda/beta tester program and let me know.

Thanks for your answer. The newest version is 1.2.6 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957231), right? I uninstalled app/data (newest Fdroid version) and installed 1.2.6 but the problem still persists (rebootet too but no cake). I had version 1.0.6.1a backed but it seems to have the same problem (and isn't working at all for me with the experimental ICS option activated).

Can I get other versions somewhere to test? Thanks for your efforts.

Found version 1.1.9 on some random website (http://www.androiddrawer.com/9128/download-afwall-android-firewall-1-1-9-app-apk/) and it's leaking too.

Have you enabled behind firewall option in network log? Because it detects packet data using iptables, but those packets will be blocked by AFWall+

  • Do you use init.d (prevent data leak) on startup on AFWall+ ? System might leak on mobile start.

Also send me the list of allowed applications that you enabled on AFWall+

Argh, so embarrassing! The „behind firewall“-option seems to have done the trick. I'm on version 1.2.6 now with both Fix Startup Data Leak and Fix Device Start Rules enabled (and only Lightning and Fdroid allowed for testing). The Kernel still seems to send some packages but whatever. And Data Usage still shows usage for Android OS but I think it is safe to assume that it too does measure behind the firewall. So sorry for being so stupid and I'll try to close this thread now. And thanks again for AFW+!
