A record refers to a physical piece of media — one tape or film reel.

A record has:

  • Name: The record's name is the name that's written on the outside of the piece of media.
  • Family: The family refers to the set of tapes or film that the record belongs to, for instance tapes that belong to a particular reporter or from a particular event.
  • Start Date: The date of the first thing on the tape.
  • End Date: The date of the last thing on the tape.
  • Photos: Photos of the record itself, ideally the index.
  • Notes: A free-form text field.
  • Medium: Whether tape, 3/4" tape, or 1" tape
  • Stories: A list of the stories contained on the tape
