v7.9.1 changelog

Team Deathmatch Changes

  • Adding an anti-cheat system for invisible players

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue with sliding
    • Sliding is a bug where getting knocked down two times in a row adds an annoying camera effect when walking, making it frustrating to move. This was fixed by adding a temporary immunity to the knockdown effect when dashing into the ball, preventing you from getting knocked down twice within a 0.5 second window.

Deathmatch Code: DYNZ3

v7.8.0 changelog

General Changes

  • Added latency compensation system developed by T1mur4TR#6594
    • The latency compensation system is designed to use your client to predict where the ball is according to the server. When you play a game, your game is always at least a few milliseconds behind the server, this is known as latency, or ping. In earlier versions of GDB, the balls position is where the server says it is, but it can take several milliseconds or more for the server to actually tell your client where the ball is, leading to the ball from your POV appearing behind where it actually is according to the server. The latency compensation system measures your latency and puts the ball ahead however many milliseconds your are behind the server. This should make playing in high ping servers more doable.
  • Improved ball surface collision logic with code developed by T1mur4TR#6594
  • Improved ball tail logic with code developed by T1mur4TR#6594
  • Added input buttons for HUD elements
    • Prompts to press buttons will now show the button bound on your system.
  • Made the ball spawn countdown text red if you're targeted
  • Added anti-player undermapping rule
    • This check stops an exploit where dashing into the ball in the right spot can get you under the Workshop Island platform. From there you will be stuck under but still able to deflect the ball. Players who are stuck under will be killed and teleported back. If Tournament Mode is active, a message will notify the host.

v7.4.0 changelog

General Changes

  • Added tournament codes
    • The tournament code uses obscured workshop code to make it less modifiable and removes the Workshop Settings. This can be considered a way to have an "anti-cheat". Checking the code that the lobby uses matches the code here is the only way to confirm the game is unlikely to be modified. While this makes it more difficult, it can still potentially be modified.
  • Added a third person setting
    • This can be toggled in the Workshop Settings under "Perspective Mode." The options are 1st person only, 3rd person only, and 1st/3rd person toggle which can be cycled using reload.
  • Added rulesets
    • Rulesets change how the game works and can be found in the Workshop Settings. Modern is the standard Genji Dodgeball experience.
  • Added retro ruleset
    • Retro ruleset uses the same ball physics pre v5.1.0. The ball can only go in a straight direction, and dash deflecting is disabled.
  • Made several optimizations, including to how the ball physics are calculated.
    • This should hopefully cause less server overloads and improve performance.

Deathmatch Changes

  • Made Torb Ball easier to be selected
  • Made improvements to Torb Ball
  • Made Torbjörn able to quench his thirst for blood
    • Please help I didn't write this

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where the winner of the round didn't stay targeted at the start of the new round
