Search box loses focus when clicking the clear button

At which URL did you encounter the problem?

What steps will reproduce the problem?

1. Enter something in the search box
2. Click the clear button (X)
3. Type something new e.g. "cat"

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Expected that the word "cat" would end up in the search box. But the focus is lost so that word ends up nowhere.
