It isn't sustainable to maintain backports for every major/minor released. We should aim to give chains/developers ample time to update to newer versions.
I propose we adopt a similar policy to the SDK. Once the next major version is released, a major release line reaches end of life. We will continue to maintain bug fix backports to this major version for 6 months.
If adopted, the 6 month policy for v1 release line should go into affect when the policy is merged into the codebase, not when v2 was released.
