Currently, if I select moving average as my aggregation type, there's no way to configure window size, model, etc. It'd be nice if those were listed as options.

you can configure all those with advanced json config on your moving average agg. We decided not to add any advanced options to the UI, because:

  • there are quite some of the options and we are not sure yet at this points which really bring a big value to the user
  • we didn't want to add to many things to the UI ... it already is confusing :)

As Peter mentioned, we're not planning to implement this in the existing editor anymore. For the new editor we'll anyway need to figure out if and how to expose that kind of functionality, since we're not wanting to focus the editor around ES terminology. I'll close this issue for now, since we don't plan to add it to the old editor.

@ppisljar I came across this issue while looking into a question on the Discuss forum. As far as I can tell, the workaround you mentioned no longer works, because there is no advanced JSON configuration option for the Moving Average agg. You can add advanced json to the sub metric that you're doing the moving avg on, but not the moving avg itself. I even tried adding the JSON to the subagg's config, but it has no effect as you can see in the screenshot below.

I am closing this as this is possible in Lens. We are tracking the addition of more types here #104815
