Summary
With the introduction of multi sort in #41918 the sorting of legacy URLs no longer worked. This was due to the switch of the sort parameter from containing an array (
[fieldname,direction]) to an array of arrays ([[fieldname1,direction1],[fieldname2,direction2],...]).So what was before
['@timestamp','asc']was now[['@timestamp','asc']]With this PR legacy URLs containing sort work again. You can reproduce it by replacing the sort part of the URL from e.g.
sort:!(!('@timestamp',asc)))to
sort:!('@timestamp',asc))There are more neat details how to test this in #76705
