Description

Over the past few releases we have introduced various features to our app related to suppressing alerts or notifications. These features include Alert Suppression, Snoozing, Exceptions, and Maintenance Windows (coming in 8.8 from Stack) (Figma design, Kibana meta #152032). Each of these features provides unique benefits and functionality, but for new users it can be overwhelming to choose the best one for their use case.

The request is to add a page to our docs that describes when to use each of these features. We could explain each one at a high level and provide common use cases. It could look something like this:

X Feature
<x feature summary>
Use <x feature> if you need to:
- Stop rules from sending slack notifications to your cluster, but continue to generate alert documents

Y Feature
<y feature summary>
Use <y feature> if you need to:
- Reduce reduce the number of alerts generated based on certain conditions.

Leaving a note to myself to link to this new page (as needed) from the action snoozing, exceptions, and maintenance window docs.
