Strange.

  1. I cannot reproduce the issue here.

  2. When I generate the pdf here, it uses the Noto font for the header and footer,
but when I look at the PDF you link to, it looks as if it uses Times Roman for
the page header and footers. The PDF document also contains references to Times
Roman internally, which it shouldn't, and the PDF generated here doesn't.

Has the document in question and the sample files been generated with the same xml2rfc installation as other documents?

Replying to ietf-svn-conversion/xml2rfc#500 (comment:2):

Hm. We get the same with output from 2.42.0.

The PDFs listed above were created w/ 2.40.1 (each contains /Creator (xml2rfc 2.40.1))

In the PDF, I see Times New Roman listed (as well as Noto fonts):

Has the document in question and the sample files been generated with the same xml2rfc installation as other documents?

Yes. Any recommendation on next steps?
My guess is all RFCs have PDF output that uses that font in the running header. Examples:

early v3 PDF: https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc8650.pdf
recent v3 PDF: https://www.rfc-editor.org/authors/rfc8851.pdf

I've been setting a sequence of permitted fonts for the body element when rendering PDF, but I'll change that to explicitly setting only "Noto Serif" in the next release.

From 187c764:

Reduced the CSS font-family for body to only Noto Serif. Addresses issue #500.
