base backup made by wal-g remotely might miss files

See my ticket created in wal-g repo: wal-g/wal-g#1106

This issue impact all alpha releases of v1.0.0 (we haven't issued production release yet).

Based on the test, it's caused by large tablespace and can fix by (until a better solution is available from wal-g):

  • setting WALG_TAR_SIZE_THRESHOLD to a bigger value by default (e.g. 21474836480 20G)
  • make WALG_TAR_SIZE_THRESHOLD configurable
