Shafa – Project Management Lifecycle

Overview of Shafa

Shafa is a tool designed to revolutionize the way we approach our wardrobes by making logging, composition, and organization of clothing intuitive and smart. Users start with a simple daily task: logging their outfit for the day. Over time, Shafa learns from past logs, enabling it to offer outfit suggestions based on the user's wearing habits. Shafa's dynamic approach not only simplifies daily routines but also turns the art of dressing into a personalized journey, enhancing the user's personal style with intelligence and data-driven insight.

Project Management Strategy

In order to bring Shafa to life, we have chosen to implement a flexible yet methodical project management approach. The chosen strategy leverages agile methodologies, emphasizing iterative development, continuous feedback, and adaptation to change.

Sprints

The project currently adopts sprints at one-week increments (starting on Tuesday of each week), with plans to transition to two-week increments in the future. Weekly capacity polls (each contributor's hourly commitment to the project) occur every Sunday to plan for the upcoming sprint. The PM conducts sprint planning every Monday before the sprint starts, as well as a retrospective for the team members to reflect on what was accomplished during the past sprint and what could be improved for the next sprint.

Asynchronous Standups

Asynchronous standups take place on Thursdays and Saturdays, during which contributors provide the PM and the rest of the team with updates, including but not limited to:

  • Progress on user stories since last standup
  • Issue(s) currently being worked on
  • Roadblocks or challenges
  • Requests for help/collaboration
  • Goals and action items for next standup
