Persisting user interaction state

We need a way to persist the state of various user-interactable objects throughout Kibana.

This is mostly needed to persist visualization state, but the solution shouldn't be limited to visualizations, and should probably work to persist app and other states. Perhaps even something that mixes "chunks" of state and building a final state for the current view.

This is a meta issue, expect various issues to be created for individual components along the way. In no particular order:

• Spy panel open/close state (Persisted Spy Panel UI State #5143)
• Dark dashboard setting (current saved in its own state)
• Map visualization state (zoom & center) (Map zoom persistance #1442)
• Legend open/close state
• Data table sorting (Save sort state in data table vis #3721)
• Spy table sorting
• Save auto-refresh value on dashboards (Save Auto-Refresh Value as a Dashboard Property #4393)

Would be great to persist data table column sort here too.

For "Save sort state in data table vis #3721" issue that was closed. Does anybody know if it applies to v4.6 and if it does, how to use that feature in v4.6?

@TulkasLaugh That was closed by #5953, which was merged in 5.0.0, so no, that feature is not available in 4.6.x.

I think that meta issue can be closed. The only two open issues are either solved (dashboard now stores it's dark state) or irrelevant (spy panels will be gone soon). So I am closing this issue for now, but please feel free to reopen if you feel it's still relevant and not covered by more specific bugs.
