As commit 50ba08f ("of/fdt: Don't clear initial_boot_params
if fdt_check_header() fails") does, the device-tree pointer
"initial_boot_params" is initialized by early_init_dt_verify(),
which is called by early_init_devtree(). So we needn't explicitly
initialize that again in early_init_devtree().

(struct perf_pmu_events_attr) is defined in include/linux/perf_event.h,
but the only "show" for it is in x86 and contains x86 specific stuff.

Make a generic one for those of us who are just using the event_str.

Define a lite version of the EVENT_DEFINE_RANGE_FORMAT() that avoids
defining helper functions for the bit-field ranges.

Retrieves and parses the 24x7 catalog on POWER systems that supply it
(right now, only POWER 8). Events are exposed via sysfs in the standard
fashion, and are all parameterized.

	$ cd /sys/bus/event_source/devices/hv_24x7/events

	$ cat HPM_CS_FROM_L4_LDATA__PHYS_CORE
	domain=0x2,offset=0xd58,core=?,lpar=0x0

	$ cat HPM_TLBIE__VCPU_HOME_CHIP
	domain=0x4,offset=0x358,vcpu=?,lpar=?

where user is required to specify values for the fields with '?' (like
core, vcpu, lpar above), when specifying the event with the perf tool.

Catalog is (at the moment) only parsed on boot. It needs re-parsing
when a some hypervisor events occur. At that point we'll also need to
prevent old events from continuing to function (counter that is passed
in via spare space in the config values?).

This adds (in req-gen/) a framework for defining gpci counter requests.
It uses macro magic similar to ftrace.

Also convert the existing hv-gpci request structures and enum values to
use the new framework (and adjust old users of the structs and enum
values to cope with changes in naming).

In exchange for this macro disaster, we get autogenerated event listing
for GPCI in sysfs, build time field offset checking, and zero
duplication of information about GPCI requests.

by perf. Omit those that don't contain any counters (but note their
ommision).

tracing_init_dentry_tr() is not used outside of trace.c, it should
be static.

Signed-off-by: Steven Rostedt <rostedt@goodmis.org>
The top level trace array is treated a little different than the
instances, as it has to deal with more of the general tracing.
The tr->dir is the tracing directory, which is an immutable
dentry, where as the tr->dir of instances are the dentry that
was created, and can be destroyed later. These should have different
functions accessing them.

As only tracing_init_dentry() deals with the top level array, fold
the code for it into that function, and remove the trace_init_dentry_tr()
that was also used by the instances to get their directory dentry.

Add a tracing_get_dentry() to just get the tracing dir entry for
instances as well as the top level array.

Since both success and failure may shortcut and exit ktest, it is better
to print the status times there too. Once times are printed, the values

   o Adding of __print_array() helper macro for TRACE_EVENT()

     to make trace events. Lots of features have been added since the
     sample code was made, and these features are mostly unknown.
     Developers have been making their own hacks to do things that are
     already available.

   o Performance improvements. Most notably, I found a performance bug
     where a waiter that is waiting for a full page from the ring buffer
     will see that a full page is not available, and go to sleep. The
     sched event caused by it going to sleep would cause it to wake up
     again. It would see that there was still not a full page, and go
     back to sleep again, and that would wake it up again, until finally
     it would see a full page. This change has been marked for stable.

  Other improvements include removing global locks from fast paths"

Dave Chinner has properly pointed out that this is a deadlock in the
reclaim code because ext4 doesn't submit pages which are marked by
PG_writeback right away.

The heuristic was introduced by commit e62e384 ("memcg: prevent OOM
with too many dirty pages") and it was applied only when may_enter_fs
was specified. The code has been changed by c3b94f4 ("memcg:
further prevent OOM with too many dirty pages") which has removed the
__GFP_FS restriction with a reasoning that we do not get into the fs
code. But this is not sufficient apparently because the fs doesn't
necessarily submit pages marked PG_writeback for IO right away.

ext4_bio_write_page calls io_submit_add_bh but that doesn't necessarily
submit the bio. Instead it tries to map more pages into the bio and
mpage_map_one_extent might trigger memcg charge which might end up
waiting on a page which is marked PG_writeback but hasn't been submitted
yet so we would end up waiting for something that never finishes.

Fix this issue by replacing __GFP_IO by may_enter_fs check (for case 2)
before we go to wait on the writeback. The page fault path, which is
the only path that triggers memcg oom killer since 3.12, shouldn't
require GFP_NOFS and so we shouldn't reintroduce the premature OOM
killer issue which was originally addressed by the heuristic.

As per David Chinner the xfs is doing similar thing since 2.6.15 already
so ext4 is not the only affected filesystem. Moreover he notes:

: For example: IO completion might require unwritten extent conversion
: which executes filesystem transactions and GFP_NOFS allocations. The
: writeback flag on the pages can not be cleared until unwritten
: extent conversion completes. Hence memory reclaim cannot wait on
: page writeback to complete in GFP_NOFS context because it is not
: safe to do so, memcg reclaim or otherwise.

The commit 55ce74d (md/raid1: ensure
device failure recorded before write request returns) is causing crash in
the LVM2 testsuite test shell/lvchange-raid.sh. For me the crash is 100%
reproducible.

The reason for the crash is that the newly added code in raid1d moves the
list from conf->bio_end_io_list to tmp, then tests if tmp is non-empty and
then incorrectly pops the bio from conf->bio_end_io_list (which is empty
because the list was alrady moved).

Raid-10 has a similar bug.

PCI devices that are 64-bit DMA capable should set the coherent
DMA mask as well as the streaming DMA mask. On some architectures,
these are managed separately, and so the coherent DMA mask will be
left at its default value of 32 if it is not set explicitly. This
results in errors such as

mediatek: Fix crash caused by reporting inconsistent skb->len to BQL

Changes since v1:
- fix inconsistent enumeration which easily causes the potential bug

The series fixes kernel BUG caused by inconsistent SKB length reported
into BQL. The reason for inconsistent length comes from hardware BUG which
results in different port number carried on the TXD within the lifecycle of
SKB. So patch 2) is proposed for use a software way to track which port
the SKB involving instead of hardware way. And patch 1) is given for another
issue I found which causes TXD and SKB inconsistency that is not expected
in the initial logic, so it is also being corrected it in the series.

The log for the kernel BUG caused by the issue is posted as below.

What this means is that the gadgetfs_suspend() routine was trying to
access dev->lock after it had been deallocated. The root cause is a
race in the dummy_hcd driver; the dummy_udc_stop() routine can race
with the rest of the driver because it contains no locking. And even
when proper locking is added, it can still race with the
set_link_state() function because that function incorrectly drops the
private spinlock before invoking any gadget driver callbacks.

The result of this race, as seen above, is that set_link_state() can
invoke a callback in gadgetfs even after gadgetfs has been unbound
from dummy_hcd's UDC and its private data structures have been
deallocated.

include/linux/usb/gadget.h documents that the ->reset, ->disconnect,
->suspend, and ->resume callbacks may be invoked in interrupt context.
In general this is necessary, to prevent races with gadget driver
removal. This patch fixes dummy_hcd to retain the spinlock across
these calls, and it adds a spinlock acquisition to dummy_udc_stop() to
prevent the race.

The net2280 driver makes the same mistake of dropping the private
spinlock for its ->disconnect and ->reset callback invocations. The
patch fixes it too.

Lastly, since gadgetfs_suspend() may be invoked in interrupt context,
it cannot assume that interrupts are enabled when it runs. It must
use spin_lock_irqsave() instead of spin_lock_irq(). The patch fixes
that bug as well.

If madvise(..., MADV_FREE) split a transparent hugepage, it called
put_page() before unlock_page().

This was wrong because put_page() can free the page, e.g. if a
concurrent madvise(..., MADV_DONTNEED) has removed it from the memory
mapping. put_page() then rightfully complained about freeing a locked
page.

Fix this by moving the unlock_page() before put_page().

This bug was found by syzkaller, which encountered the following splat:

Here is a C reproducer:

    #define _GNU_SOURCE
    #include <pthread.h>
    #include <sys/mman.h>
    #include <unistd.h>

    #define MADV_FREE	8
    #define PAGE_SIZE	4096

    static void *mapping;
    static const size_t mapping_size = 0x1000000;

    static void *madvise_thrproc(void *arg)
    {
        madvise(mapping, mapping_size, (long)arg);
    }

    int main(void)
    {
        pthread_t t[2];

        for (;;) {
            mapping = mmap(NULL, mapping_size, PROT_WRITE,
                           MAP_POPULATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS|MAP_PRIVATE, -1, 0);

            munmap(mapping + mapping_size / 2, PAGE_SIZE);

            pthread_create(&t[0], 0, madvise_thrproc, (void*)MADV_DONTNEED);
            pthread_create(&t[1], 0, madvise_thrproc, (void*)MADV_FREE);

            pthread_join(t[1], NULL);
            munmap(mapping, mapping_size);
        }
    }

Note: to see the splat, CONFIG_TRANSPARENT_HUGEPAGE=y and
CONFIG_DEBUG_VM=y are needed.

syzbot caught an infinite recursion in nsh_gso_segment().

Problem here is that we need to make sure the NSH header is of
reasonable length.

BUG: MAX_LOCK_DEPTH too low!
turning off the locking correctness validator.

The context switch call-backs for thread-imc are defined in sched_task function.
So when thread-imc events are grouped with software pmu events,
perf_pmu_sched_task hits the WARN_ON_ONCE condition, since software PMUs are
assumed not to have a sched_task defined.

Patch to move the thread_imc enable/disable opal call back from sched_task to
event_[add/del] function

Increase kasan instrumented kernel stack size from 32k to 64k. Other
architectures seems to get away with just doubling kernel stack size under
kasan, but on s390 this appears to be not enough due to bigger frame size.
The particular pain point is kasan inlined checks (CONFIG_KASAN_INLINE
vs CONFIG_KASAN_OUTLINE). With inlined checks one particular case hitting
stack overflow is fs sync on xfs filesystem:

In the existing NVMeOF Passthru core command handling on failure of
nvme_alloc_request() it errors out with rq value set to NULL. In the
error handling path it calls blk_put_request() without checking if
rq is set to NULL or not which produces following Oops:-

We fix this Oops by adding a new goto label out_put_req and reordering
the blk_put_request call to avoid calling blk_put_request() with rq
value is set to NULL. Here we also update the rest of the code
accordingly.

Get and put the reference to the ctrl in the nvme_dev_open() and
nvme_dev_release() before and after module get/put for ctrl in char
device file operations.

Introduce char_dev relase function, get/put the controller and module
which allows us to fix the potential Oops which can be easily reproduced
with a passthru ctrl (although the problem also exists with pure user
access):

...for each but CPU 0/boot.
Basic debug printks right before the mentioned line say:

[    0.048170] CPU: 1, smt_mask:

So smt_mask, which is sibling mask obviously, is empty when entering
the function.
This is critical, as sched_core_cpu_starting() calculates
core-scheduling parameters only once per CPU start, and it's crucial
to have all the parameters filled in at that moment (at least it
uses cpu_smt_mask() which in fact is `&cpu_sibling_map[cpu]` on
MIPS).

A bit of debugging led me to that set_cpu_sibling_map() performing
the actual map calculation, was being invocated after
notify_cpu_start(), and exactly the latter function starts CPU HP
callback round (sched_core_cpu_starting() is basically a CPU HP
callback).
While the flow is same on ARM64 (maps after the notifier, although
before calling set_cpu_online()), x86 started calculating sibling
maps earlier than starting the CPU HP callbacks in Linux 4.14 (see
[0] for the reference). Neither me nor my brief tests couldn't find
any potential caveats in calculating the maps right after performing
delay calibration, but the WARN splat is now gone.
The very same debug prints now yield exactly what I expected from
them:

[    0.048433] CPU: 1, smt_mask: 0-1
